Bombay Dub Orchestra

Bombay Dub Orchestra is the electronica/orchestral project of composers Garry Hughes and Andrew T. Mackay. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2006. Since then the name Bombay Dub Orchestra has built quite a reputation. From main-stage performances at the UK’s Big Chill Festival and DJing across the globe, scoring feature films to remixing world-renowned artists such as Bob Marley for the ‘Roots, Rock, Remixed’ CD; Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan; Azam Ali; Juno Reactor; Bebel Gilberto; Céu; Dizzy Gillespie; and, Miklos Rosza’s ‘Love Theme From Ben Hur’ featuring the violinist Sophie Solomon.
They have had tracks licensed for movies (''Florida Road'', ''You Don't Mess With The Zohan'', ''The Killing Floor'', ''Bollywood Hero'') and TV shows including, Numbers in the US, UK, and around the world. Their albums "Bombay Dub Orchestra" and "3 Cities" were voted #6 and #12, respectively, in US radio show ‘Echoes (radio program)’ Listener's Poll 2009 as one of the top 200 albums of the last 20 years. Their albums have also reached the #1 spot on iTunes World Music charts around the globe, as well as on a leading US radio station KCRW.
They have also performed at various film festivals around the world including Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and Stuttgart's Bollywood and Beyond. At the 2012 IFFLA, Garry Hughes picked up the award for Best Documentary featuring his score on the HBO film ''Marathon Boy'' about the young Indian marathon runner Budhia Singh.
The album "New York Remixes" was released on Six Degrees Records in September 2012. Curated by New York-based Composer and producer Tony Grund, the album featured tracks taken from the first two BDO albums and were reworked solely by New York-based remixers and producers.
